How pregnancy massage in Calgary can help you.
Author: Robyn Farmer, Registered Massage Therapist
Many pregnant moms suffer with discomfort throughout pregnancy, and there are often a lot more concerns than just back pain.
Pregnancy can bring with it all kinds of pains in all kinds of unexpected places, like hip and knee pain, neck pain, and even carpal tunnel symptoms!
Understandably, many expectant moms are worried about taking pain relief medication because of the potential for the drugs to cross over to their baby.
Massage has been used for thousands of years to help with all types of physical aches and pains for all types of people - and it's just as effective for the problems that come along with pregnancy.
But when it comes to pregnancy, many of the "traditional" massage techniques that therapists are trained in aren't suitable. Sometimes it's because your baby bump means you can't get into the position the therapist needs, and sometimes because pregnancy has brought changes throughout your body: tissues have become more flexible, and it's very easy for "traditional" techniques to actually cause injury!
I specialize in helping Calgary moms and moms-to-be find relief from aches and pains using massage. Whether it's low hip and back pain to that "my neck and shoulders are so sore from holding my gorgeous baby" pain, I understand, I'm familiar with it, and I'm here to help; it's why my clients give my services five stars on Google.
I pride myself in understanding your needs, and my expert training means that I know exactly how to work with your body to reduce your discomfort.
I also believe in empowering my clients, so when you come and see me for pregnancy and postpartum massage, I'll guide you through exercises that will help keep you moving and that you can do at home - I even email them to you so you can refer back to them whenever you need to.
